Collection: Dust Mite Pillow Protectors

Could your pillow be triggering your allergy symptoms? Dust mites live deep inside pillows, and regular pillowcases don't form a barrier fine enough to stop their allergens. Every protector below is a fully-zippered encasement with an independently-tested tight-weave fabric — available in 100% cotton (OEKO-TEX certified) or waterproof (TPU-lined). Choose your pillow size to start.

Dust Mite Pillow Protectors - FAQs

Do dust mite pillow protectors actually work?

Dust mite allergens are particles around 10–40 microns.

A tightly-woven fabric with pore size below 5 microns acts as a physical barrier. Our cotton range tests at 2.8 microns and the waterproof range at approximately 2 microns — both well below the size needed to block allergen particles.

Effectiveness is greatest when used alongside mattress and quilt encasements. Australian guidance from ASCIA recognises tightly-woven encasements as part of broader dust mite reduction strategies.

What's the difference between a pillow protector and an encasement?

The terms are used interchangeably.

Technically, a "protector" can be any cover; an "encasement" fully encloses all sides with a zipper.

Every product here is an encasement — we use both terms because most Australian customers search for "pillow protector".

Allergens from dust mites are present in their feces and body parts.

These tiny particles can become airborne and inhaled, leading to allergic reactions. Using protectors on your mattress, pillow, and duvet effectively confines these allergens, hindering their spread into the air and lessening their concentration in your sleep area.

How often should I wash a dust mite pillow protector?

Every 3 to 6 months is generally sufficient when a pillowcase sits over the top to absorb daily wear.

Are these suitable for children with eczema or asthma?

Our cotton range is OEKO-TEX certified by the manufacturer, considered safe for direct skin contact including for sensitive skin and infants.

We don't make claims about treating any medical condition. If your child has a diagnosed condition, such as eczema, please discuss bedding choices with your GP, paediatrician, or allergist.

Will these make my pillow feel different?

Cotton: feels like a high-thread-count pillowcase.

Waterproof: soft polyester jersey outer with no plastic crinkle (the TPU layer is laminated on the inside).

Do you ship Australia-wide?

Yes — we ship across Australia from an Australian warehouse.

    Traps existing dust mites

Any mites already inside are sealed in and cut off from their food source.

  • dust mite pillow protector blocks dust mites from entering the pillow

Blocks new dust mites from entering

New mites are unable to penetrate the encasement. The mites in the encasement are cut off from food source.

    Prevents allergen inhalation

The barrier created by the dust mite protector prevents allergen particles from escaping into the air you breathe while sleeping.

Why these and not a regular pillow protector?

Most pillow protectors at department stores are loosely-woven polyester or microfibre. They're designed for general wear, not as an allergen barrier, and typically only cover the top of the pillow. The protectors here are full encasements with a tight enough weave to physically block dust mite allergen particles — a different product, designed for a different job.

  • Which one to choose?

Sleep hot or prefer natural fibres: choose cotton.

    Need spill protection: choose waterproof.

Both are equally effective dust mite barriers.

  • Waterproof

Pore size approximately 2 microns (TPU membrane), polyester jersey + TPU lining, fully waterproof. Best for kids who drool, the bedwetting phase, carers, and anyone who wants spill protection.

  • 100% Cotton

Pore size 2.8 microns, 1600 thread count cotton, OEKO-TEX certified by the manufacturer, more breathable. Best for adults and children with dust mite allergies, eczema-aware bedding.
