The Vintage Design Homewares 100% Linen Quilt Cover Set is a solid-colour linen quilt cover in Sage — a muted, earthy green. Made from 100% linen, the fabric is breathable, thermoregulating, and gets noticeably softer with every wash. Linen's natural structure means it tends to feel cooler in summer and warmer in winter than synthetic or cotton-polyester blends.

This listing is the Sage colourway, Double size. The set includes one quilt cover (180 × 210cm) and two standard pillowcases (48 × 73cm).

Frequently asked

Is linen good for dust mite allergies?
Linen doesn't have special dust mite resistant properties — all bedding accumulates allergen over time. Where it earns its place in an allergy-aware bedroom is practical: durable enough for frequent washing, breathable enough to reduce the warm humid microclimate dust mites prefer, and the natural weave doesn't trap debris the way synthetics can. For barrier protection, a tightly-woven quilt encasement placed between the quilt and this cover does the allergen-blocking work.

What does the research say about bedding and dust mite allergens?
Allergen accumulation correlates with overall bedroom levels — the surrounding environment matters more than any single product (Rains et al., 1999). A 2024 meta-analysis found comprehensive interventions — mattress protectors, pillow protectors, quilt protectors, washing, humidity control, and air purification — were associated with three times greater odds of improvement (van Boven et al., 2024). Single measures alone are less reliable (Gøtzsche & Johansen, 2008).

Should I use a quilt protector over this?
Yes, if dust mite allergen is a concern. A tightly-woven encasement between the quilt and this cover creates a physical barrier that prevents allergen reaching you while you sleep. The cover itself is not a barrier product. Browse our dust mite quilt and doona protector range.

What's the difference between a quilt cover and a quilt encasement?
A quilt cover is decorative — it protects the quilt from soiling but the weave isn't designed to block allergen. A dust mite encasement has a specifically tight weave to create a physical barrier between you and allergen inside the quilt. The encasement goes on first, the decorative cover over it. See our quilt encasement range.

I have a dust mite allergy — what's the most important bedding step?
Comprehensive bedroom control: encase the mattress, pillow, and quilt; wash regularly at 55°C or cold if hot isn't possible; keep humidity below ~50%; consider air purification. This quilt cover is one component — the encasements and washing routine are doing the allergy management work. Speak to your GP or allergy specialist for personalised advice.
