Dust mite pillow protector, V-Shape — waterproof, zippered
A waterproof encasement that seals your V-shape pillow inside a microporous TPU barrier, keeping dust mite allergens trapped inside and blocking spills.
The TPU membrane creates a barrier against the fine particles that carry those allergens (typically 10–40 microns), while remaining waterproof. Your normal pillowcase goes over the top.
What makes a waterproof V-Shape pillow protector effective
A microporous TPU membrane is far smaller than the 10–40 micron particles that carry dust mite allergens, laminated behind a soft jersey outer. Pore-size figures are supplied by the manufacturer, Fifth Ridge Pty Ltd, from third-party testing.

The pore-size detail (third-party tested)
Dust mite allergens are carried by fecal pellets and body fragments that typically measure 10 to 40 microns. According to test data supplied by the manufacturer, Fifth Ridge Pty Ltd, this fabric’s TPU membrane has pores measured at approximately 0.16 microns at maximum distribution (third-party capillary flow porometry, Galwick fluid) — well below that range. The full-length zipper encloses the pillow on all sides. We have not independently conducted this testing; the figures are reproduced in good faith from the manufacturer.

What the research says about encasings
A 2003 randomised controlled trial published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (Halken et al.) tested mattress and pillow encasings against placebo encasings in children with asthma and dust mite allergy. The trial found that the active encasings produced a significant long-term reduction in dust mite allergen concentrations over 12 months.
This is a finding of that independent study, reported here for general information. Individual results vary, and this product is intended to be used alongside other dust mite reduction measures.

Full care instructions
- Wash: warm or gentle cycle. Do not exceed 60°C — high heat can damage the TPU membrane over time.
- Dry: tumble dry low/medium or air dry. Avoid very hot dryers.
- Frequency: every 3–6 months when a pillowcase sits over the top. Wash sooner after a spill or accident.
- Avoid: bleach, fabric softeners, dry cleaning, ironing, and any oils or strong detergents.
- Lifespan: over 4–5 years, body oils can gradually break down the TPU. A pillowcase on top significantly extends its life.

Will it fit my V-shape pillow?
V-shape pillows vary more than standard sizes. The knitted jersey has stretch to accommodate variation, but measure both arms and the angle before ordering. If your pillow is significantly outside standard dimensions, contact us first.
What’s the difference between this and the cotton V-Shape pillow protector?
Both can be used as a barrier against dust mite particles. The cotton version is 100% natural cotton, OEKO-TEX certified, more breathable, but not waterproof. This version has a TPU waterproof lining that also blocks liquid spills and has a stretchy fit.
Does it feel like plastic?
No. The TPU membrane is laminated behind a soft polyester knitted jersey, so the surface that touches you is fabric. There’s no plastic crinkle.
Will it make me hot?
Less than a fully laminated PVC protector, but slightly more than a 100% cotton encasement. The TPU membrane is microporous — it allows water vapour through, so it breathes — but it’s not as breathable as natural fibre.

This mattress encasement is a great solution and alternative to purchasing a new mattress for a child with dust mite allergy. The protected went on easily and provides leave of mind that whatever mites are living inside the mattress are trapped in there. Have purchased all of the products to protect our kids bed and are happy with them. Have been using for over one month now.
The quilt cover encasement feels like it's great quality. Have been using for about one month now and it's providing peace of mind that whatever is inside there can't get out. Washing the quilt weekly was not going to work as the quilt wouldn't have survived such regular washing, so this is an excellent solution.

The product is great quality and was an easy order with very good communication. I have only had one night sleeping with it but was very pleasantly surprised . I must add , I think the cost is great value when compared to getting even a new doona that is adequate for the colder states in Australia . I had my down doona and pillows washed and commercially dried before putting them in the covers and the mattress is all encased now and it is a really big difference . 👍
