About the fabric
The main body is organic bamboo viscose, which Honey & Stitch markets as OEKO-TEX certified. OEKO-TEX® certification on this product is held by the manufacturer. We rely on the manufacturer's certification and haven't independently verified each production run.
Bamboo viscose is prized by parents of children with sensitive skin for its softness and moisture-wicking feel. Note that the viscose manufacturing process alters bamboo's natural compounds, so we don't claim antibacterial properties for the finished fabric.
The mitten sleeves are 100% mulberry silk. Silk has a smooth surface structure that many parents find less irritating than rougher fibres against delicate skin.

Care
- Always wash new clothes before first wear
- Turn garments and silk mittens inside out before washing, especially if skin creams have been applied
- Use a gentle, fragrance-free detergent — perfumed residues can irritate sensitive skin. Avoid fabric softener
- Machine wash warm with similar colours, at or below 40°C. No bleach
- Tumble dry on low if your healthcare provider has recommended minimising airborne pollutant exposure; otherwise line drying is fine
- Silk mittens: cool, gentle cycle inside a wash bag is best for longevity
Frequently asked
Q: Is this onesie suitable for babies with eczema or sensitive skin?
Honey & Stitch developed it specifically with feedback from families managing sensitive skin and atopic conditions. The combination of organic bamboo, silk mitten sleeves and label-free construction is chosen to reduce friction and irritation. It is a clothing product, not a medical device — if your baby has diagnosed eczema or another skin condition, please follow advice from your GP, paediatrician or dermatologist.
Q: Are the silk mittens removable?
The mittens are part of the sleeve and fold over baby's hands when needed, then tuck back when not. There's nothing to lose or misplace.
Q: Is "hypoallergenic" a regulated claim?
"Hypoallergenic" isn't a regulated standard in Australia — there's no government-certified threshold a fabric has to meet to use the term. Honey & Stitch markets the bamboo as hypoallergenic to indicate the fabric is less likely to cause irritation for sensitive skin, but every child reacts differently. If your baby has a diagnosed skin condition, your GP, paediatrician or dermatologist is the right person to advise on fabric choices.
Q: What does "OEKO-TEX certified" mean?
OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is an independent textile testing system that limits the presence of harmful substances in finished fabric. Honey & Stitch markets the main fabric as OEKO-TEX certified; we rely on the manufacturer's certification rather than independent testing of every batch.
Q: Is bamboo viscose the same as organic bamboo?
Bamboo plants can be grown organically, but turning bamboo into a soft wearable fabric requires a viscose (regenerated cellulose) process. The Honey & Stitch onesie uses organic bamboo as the source material; the finished fabric is bamboo viscose. We don't make antibacterial claims for the finished fabric, since the viscose process alters bamboo's natural compounds.
Q: Can baby sleep in this overnight?
Yes — it's designed for day and night wear. For overnight sleep, please follow safe-sleep guidance from Red Nose Australia, including dressing baby for the room temperature, placing baby on their back, and keeping the sleep space free of loose bedding.
Q: How should I wash it?
Machine wash inside out in warm water (≤40°C) with a fragrance-free detergent and like colours. Skip fabric softener and bleach. Cold-washing alone has been shown to remove more than 90% of dust mite allergen from fabric (McDonald & Tovey, JACI 1992), and washing in water at or above 55°C also kills mites if you want to combine both effects on bedding items.
Q: Does it shrink?
Honey & Stitch sizes run small to begin with, and bamboo viscose can relax slightly after the first wash. If you're between sizes, size up.

Let customers speak for us
from 15 reviewsThe product is great quality and was an easy order with very good communication. I have only had one night sleeping with it but was very pleasantly surprised . I must add , I think the cost is great value when compared to getting even a new doona that is adequate for the colder states in Australia . I had my down doona and pillows washed and commercially dried before putting them in the covers and the mattress is all encased now and it is a really big difference . 👍
Efficient postage, easy to put onto the mattress, duvet etc. Daughter finds it comfortable and soft.
We purchased mattress , pillow and duvet encasement for kids due to their dust mite allergy.
Quality is great and delivery was earlier than expected.
Shipping was fast and efficient. The quality of the pillow is so much better than the one we bought from kmart. However it's not for us as it's on the thick side and will cause back pain used for a long period
Great product that was delivered quickly. I really like how the SmartAir HEPA filters need replacing every 22 months instead of every six months like most air purifiers. Great value for money.
Comfy as I want it
I love my quilt cover and pillowcases!
Lovely quality and they’ve made all the difference to my allergies and therefore my sleep!
We ordered this mattress for my son who has a dust mite allergy - it arrived quickly (and in a box, which made it super easy to move to the room we needed it in) and it was easy to unpackage and get on the bed. So far he is finding it very comfortable to sleep on.
So far I’m really loving this doona cover. Very comfortable,
Great duvet! It's soft and keeps the dust away so I don't sneeze. It's just right for sleeping all year. I'm really happy with it!
