The Park Avenue 500TC Natural Cotton Sheet Set is woven from 100% long-staple cotton in a sateen weave. Long-staple cotton uses longer fibres that produce a smoother, more durable fabric than standard cotton — the sateen weave adds a subtle sheen and soft, silk-like hand feel. This listing is the King size in White.

The set includes one flat sheet (285 × 265cm), one fitted sheet (180 × 203cm + 40cm depth), and two standard pillowcases (48 × 74cm with 16cm flap).

Frequently asked

Is cotton good for dust mite allergies?
Cotton's main advantage in an allergy-aware bedroom is practical: it's durable enough to handle frequent laundering and can typically tolerate higher wash temperatures than synthetic or delicate blends. Australian research at the University of Sydney found that washing bedding at 55°C or higher kills 100% of dust mites, and that even a cold wash removes more than 90% of dust mite allergen (McDonald & Tovey, 1992, Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology). Note that this set's care instructions specify cold wash only — refer to your care label. For barrier protection against accumulated allergen, a tightly-woven mattress encasement and pillow encasements do the heavy lifting.

What is OEKO-TEX certification?
OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is an independent certification that tests textiles for over 100 substances potentially harmful to humans — including heavy metals, formaldehyde, pesticide residues, and certain dyes. It confirms the fabric has been tested and found free of those substances at time of certification. It is not a claim about allergen barrier performance or dust mite resistance.

What does the research say about sheets and dust mite allergens?
A few things worth knowing:

  • Allergen levels track the bedroom, not the fabric. Allergen accumulation in bedding correlates with overall bedroom allergen levels — the surrounding environment matters more than any single product (Rains et al., 1999, Clinical & Experimental Allergy).
  • Comprehensive bedroom control has been associated with improved outcomes; single interventions in isolation are less reliable. A 2024 meta-analysis found that combinations of mattress protectors, pillow protectors, quilt protectors, washing routines, humidity control, and air purification were associated with three times greater odds of patient-reported improvement in mite-sensitive participants (van Boven et al., 2024, World Allergy Organization Journal). An earlier 2008 Cochrane review found weaker evidence for any one measure on its own (Gøtzsche & Johansen, 2008).

I have a dust mite allergy — what's the most important bedding step?
The setup most supported by published research is comprehensive bedroom control:

These sheets are one component of a comfortable bedroom setup — the encasements and washing routine are doing the allergy management work. For advice specific to your situation, your GP or allergy specialist is the right person to speak to.
