How it works

A desiccant dehumidifier draws moist air through a rotating wheel coated in moisture-absorbing material. Captured moisture is condensed and collected in the tank. Unlike compressor dehumidifiers, the desiccant design works well at low ambient temperatures (under 15°C) — useful in cool Australian rooms in winter when damp problems are usually worst.

Indoor relative humidity above 60% creates conditions associated with mould growth and elevated dust mite activity. Indoor-air-quality guidance commonly recommends keeping RH between 40–55%. What it doesn't do

This is a dehumidifier, not an air purifier — it removes moisture from the air, not airborne particles. It also doesn't remove existing mould — it reduces the conditions that favour new mould growth. If you have visible mould, treat the affected surface and identify the moisture source first; the dehumidifier helps prevent it returning.
