About the fabric

The pyjamas are 70% viscose derived from bamboo, 25% organic cotton, and 5% elastane. Bamboo viscose feels soft and silky against skin and has good moisture-wicking properties, which many parents of kids with sensitive skin find comfortable. The cotton component adds breathability and structure; the small amount of elastane gives the garment stretch so it moves with active sleepers.

Note that bamboo viscose is a regenerated cellulose fabric — the bamboo plant has been processed into a soft wearable fibre, which alters the plant's natural compounds. We don't claim antibacterial or self-sanitising properties for the finished fabric.

How the fold-over sleeves work

The mitten cuff is sewn into the end of each sleeve and folds back on itself. Folded down, it covers your child's hand. Folded up, the hand is free. There's no separate piece to lose, and older children can manage the fold themselves — useful for night-time bathroom trips without taking the top off.

Bamboo Buddy uses 2-in-1 sizing — each size spans roughly two years of typical growth. If your child is on the upper end of an age range, size up.

Bamboo Buddy designed these pyjamas with children with eczema and sensitive skin in mind — the soft fabric, covered hands, and absence of scratchy seams are the reasons many parents in this situation choose them. That said, they are pyjamas, not a medical device. We don't make claims about treating or relieving any condition. Q: What size should I order?
Each size spans roughly two years of typical growth. The 1–2 size suits toddlers; sizing scales up to 11–12 years. If your child is at the top end of an age range or grows quickly, size up.

Q: Can my child open the mittens themselves?
Yes — the fold-over design means kids can flip the mittens up to free their hands (for the toilet, eating, or play) and flip them back down again. The pyjamas don't need to come off for routine night-time activities.

Q: What's the fabric blend?
70% viscose derived from bamboo, 25% organic cotton, and 5% elastane. We don't have OEKO-TEX or GOTS certification documented from the supplier for this product. The fabric composition is per Bamboo Bubby's own product specification.

Q: Are these antibacterial or hypoallergenic?
Bamboo Bubby's broader marketing has described bamboo as antibacterial and hypoallergenic. We're more cautious — bamboo viscose (the processed fibre used in fabric) has had its natural compounds altered, so we don't repeat antibacterial claims for the finished pyjamas. "Hypoallergenic" isn't a regulated standard in Australia either; it generally means a fabric is less likely to cause irritation for sensitive skin, but every child reacts differently. Speak to your GP or dermatologist if your child has a diagnosed skin condition.
