A jersey-knit fitted sheet from Little Bamboo, sized 72 × 35cm with a 10cm depth — designed to fit pram bassinets, small bassinets, and Moses baskets. Made from a 30% cotton / 70% rayon bamboo blend — a bamboo-dominant fabric that's smoother and softer-feeling than cotton-dominant blends.

A note on sizing. Australian "bassinet" terminology covers a range of small newborn sleepers including pram bassinets, traditional bassinets, and Moses baskets — sizing varies. This sheet at 72 × 35 × 10cm is the standard Little Bamboo size for these small sleepers.

Why jersey-knit fitted sheets work well for small bassinets and prams

  • Stretchy, snug fit suited to small mattresses. Jersey is a knit fabric (not woven), so it has natural give in all directions. The sheet stretches over the mattress and stays in place even when active sleepers shift it around.
  • Soft and smooth feel. The bamboo-dominant blend leans on rayon bamboo's smoother fibre surface, with cotton in the mix for everyday character.
  • Breathable. Both cotton and rayon bamboo are breathable, absorbent fibres. The jersey knit structure adds airflow compared to tightly-woven sheet fabrics.
  • Easy care. Jersey doesn't need ironing — it returns to shape after washing.
  • Bamboo-dominant blend. At 70% rayon bamboo / 30% cotton, this fabric leans toward bamboo — softer feel than cotton-dominant sheets, slightly less durable in heavy-wash rotation.
  • Machine washable. Designed for frequent washing, which matters for baby bedding.

Features

  • Jersey-knit fitted sheet for pram, bassinet or Moses basket
  • 30% cotton / 70% rayon bamboo blend (bamboo-dominant)
  • White, solid colour
  • Elasticated edges
  • Brand: Little Bamboo

Care

  • Machine washable
  • Washing at 55°C or hotter kills dust mites (McDonald & Tovey, 1992, Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology); cold-washing still removes most allergen if hot isn't possible
  • See product label for detailed care instructions before first use
  • Tumble dry on low or line dry — high heat can affect the elastic and reduce softness over time

Frequently asked

Will this sheet fit my bassinet?
This sheet is sized 72 × 35 × 10cm. "Bassinet" in Australian baby-bedding terminology covers a range of small newborn sleepers — pram bassinets, traditional bassinets, and Moses baskets — and sizing varies between products. Always measure your specific mattress before purchase to confirm fit. If your bassinet mattress is significantly larger (e.g. 80 × 40cm or more), this sheet may not be the right size.

Is this 100% bamboo?
No — this sheet is a bamboo-dominant blend (70% rayon bamboo / 30% cotton). For pure single-fibre alternatives, look at hemp or 100% cotton sheets in the small bassinet size range.

Is rayon bamboo the same as viscose?
Effectively yes. Viscose and rayon are different names for the same family of regenerated cellulose fibres. "Bamboo viscose" and "rayon bamboo" describe the same material — the only meaningful distinction is the source of the cellulose (bamboo plant rather than wood pulp).

Is bamboo really antibacterial?
Bamboo as a raw plant has some natural antimicrobial activity. The rayon bamboo manufacturing process, however, can alter or remove those compounds — which is why we don't make antibacterial claims for this sheet. The cotton component doesn't carry antibacterial claims either.

Is this suitable for sensitive skin?
We don't make safety claims for specific medical conditions. Cotton and rayon bamboo are both commonly chosen by families managing sensitive skin — cotton for being a mechanically processed natural fibre, rayon bamboo for the smooth fibre surface. Every child is different. For advice specific to your child's situation, talk to your GP, paediatrician, or dermatologist.

How does this compare to a 100% cotton or 100% bamboo bassinet sheet?
A 70/30 bamboo-cotton blend leans towards the bamboo side: softer and smoother-feeling than cotton-dominant blends, but with cotton in the mix for some durability. Pure bamboo sheets are silkier still; pure cotton sheets are more durable but feel less smooth.

Will it shrink?
Cotton-bamboo jersey can shrink slightly on first wash, particularly at higher temperatures. The sheet is sized 72 × 35 × 10cm. Follow the care label and consider washing before first use.

Why is this called "Jersey"?
Jersey is a fabric construction (a type of knit), not a fibre. The name comes from the Channel Island of Jersey where the knit was historically produced. Jersey fabrics stretch in all directions, which makes them well-suited to fitted sheets that need to flex over a mattress.
